There’s a popular game we often played during team building called pass the ball. It is a simple game where the team goes into a circle (or any shape) and try to pass a ball (or many balls) as fast as possible without letting it drop to the ground. The morale of the game is to show that a team works together on a single task and everyone has their role to play to ensure the task is completed, everyone is involved in getting it done!
But, there is a strange situation where instead of passing the ball, the team try their best to lose the ball. Yes, you hear me right, lose the ball! This is one level higher than playing the blaming game where one team member blames another, in lose the ball, no one gets blamed, everyone got off the hock and the ball is never seen again. Hmmm….
How to play this game? Simple! Start the game off just like you would play pass the ball. As the ball is being passed around, when it is least notice, just throw the ball away but pretend to pass it on. If you’re the next person who is suppose to get the ball but got nothing, don’t worry, just pretend that the ball never existed and keep quiet. Easy? Easy!
Past the ball can be very challenging, as the team comes together and try to juggle as many balls as possible without letting anyone of it drop to the ground, or even try to pass as fast as possible. Comparatively, lost the ball is a much easier game, the only challenge is how to lose the ball as quickly as possible without being noticed. The eventual goal of lose the ball is there is no more ball to be passed around and everyone go about looking busy as usual. It’s just another day at the office!
